Hurricane Matthew has now passed through Haiti, and has been wreaking havoc elsewhere. But it is clear that the damage and loss of life in Haiti has been devastating. Hundreds have lost their lives and many thousands have lost their homes on the southern peninsula of Haiti. The photos from the towns of Jeremie, La Caye, Port Salut, Gonaive and Petit-Goave are staggering, and many small villages have not even been reached yet. As in the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake I urge all who are able to assist, and to give money to the organizations with the best track records in Haiti. Some that we have supported and recommend again are Partners in Health and Doctors Without Borders, but especially excellent Haitian-based organizations such as Fonkoze , Fondam and the Art Creation Foundation for Children. Please look them up and donate if you can!
During the months of October through December Indigo Arts will donate 20% of sales of Haitian Vodou Flags (except for a few consigned flags) to Haitian Hurricane relief. We will donate the funds to the organizations just cited, depending on how much we can raise. This is a great time to help Haiti, while you can discover and invest in this stunning art form!
