I will be out of the country for about six weeks, from May 1st to June 17th, and so will not be shipping orders or open for visitors at the gallery after April 27. The Indigo Arts website will be active as always. Because I will be traveling in a remote area I will not have email or phone access for most of the time. I will respond to messages as soon as possible. I will be able to process and ship orders after June 17th, 2026. Thank you for your patience.
Namaste!

Gerard Fortuné Aristide

Gerard was born near where he spent the rest of his life, in Montagne Noire, above Petionville, Haiti.  The date of his birth is in dispute.

June 30, 2022 to September 30, 2022

" Gérard was of those beings who make the impression of being eternal.

I was sad to learn the news that Gerard Fortuné, the playful, prolific and much loved Haitian naif artist passed away on December 8th, 2019.

The title comes from the traditional Haitian Kreyol call and response greeting. “Onè!" calls the greeter, meaning "honor!" The response is "Respè!" - "respect".
