A new Indigo Arts website
by AFisherWelcome to the new and we hope much improved Indigo Arts website!
The original Indigo Arts website was about ten pages long, designed in 1998 by ArtsTribe, using pre-historic tools. Each page was actually chiseled out of stone and required an army of poorly paid workers to heft up into cyberspace! The website has been added to continuously by myself for seventeen years, and had become so chock-full of “content” (known in the 20th century as “stuff”) that it was creaking under the weight. There was an awful lot of sold material in there, news of long-past events and links that no longer went anywhere useful. The web-design program I was using was declared extinct by Adobe over a decade ago, and would operate only on a c.1999 OS-9 iMac in my back office. And that stopped working about a year ago. The website did not have such new-fangled innovations as a search engine, a shopping cart, or any other means of making a purchase directly online. I received quite a few emails saying “I can’t figure out how to buy something on your site” or "is everything sold?".
And so it was not a hasty decision to begin the process of creating a new website for Indigo Arts about a year ago. I did receive quite a lot of encouragement to do this (thank you Jane!). Oculeum has been working intermittently for the last year, and lately very intensively, to design a new and much better functioning website for Indigo Arts, and in particular, to transfer over the literally thousands of objets d’art and d’otherwise to the new site (thank you Katharine).
The new website went online late Wednesday night and seems to be operating just fine. But there will undoubtedly be glitches, broken links, etc., so please feel free to let us know by email, so we can fix them. I will also be adding a lot of new artworks, objects, gifts, etc., so please keep checking back.
