Edgar Oswaldo Perén Tubín born 1971 in Comapala, Guatemala.  Son of Oscar Peren, one of the leading painters of the “Comalapa School” of Guatemalan painters. He paints in the Kaqchicel Community (constituting 96% of the population).  Comalapa School is known for organization, placement and relation of figures; geometric design, a sense of balance; often bands of figures in processions, parades, funerals and celebrations. Nació el 18 de agosto de 1971 en San Juan Comalapa, municipio del departamento de Chimaltenango. Se Inicio en la pintura en 1985. Desde entonces ha plasmado en sus lienzos las costumbres y tradiciones, leyendas y paisajes de su pueblo. Existió en este pueblo una mujer que estaba poseída por el mal y que en las noches de luna llena se convertía en una marrana que salía a las calles en busca de hombres aventureros para llevarlos a los barrancos y tirarlos al fondo.

In this town, there was a woman possessed by evil who, on nights of the full moon, would turn into a pig, taking to the streets in search of adventurous men to take them to the ravines and throw them to the bottom.
