I will be away from the gallery from January 27th to February 4th, and so will not be shipping orders or open for visitors at the gallery. The Indigo Arts website will be active as always. I will respond to emails as soon as possible. I will be able to ship orders after February 4th, 2025.
Happy GroundHog Day!

Note:
With the high cost of shipping many of our customers choose to ship by USPS. For small and light shipments this is usually less expensive, but please be aware that their estimates are often wrong and their service can be very slow (sixteen days for Priority Mail from Philadelphia to New York City recently). The service is not always as economical as it may appear, particularly on larger or more valuable shipments. USPS estimates only include insurance up to $100 for its domestic shipments. If you ask for full insurance we will recalculate the shipping cost and send you an invoice for any difference in cost. For overseas shipments USPS will not insure for over $650. On request we can get estimates for overseas shipping from DHL.

According to the book Arte Naif: Pintura Maya Guatemalteca Contemporanea, Vicente Simaj Yat comes from San Antonio Ilotenango, Quiche, Guatemala.

Don Margarito Vicente Simaj Yat began developing his skills with strokes and colors in 1970.

In his beginnings, he elaborated drawings on postcards, to sell them on the streets of the Capital City, where he moved from his native Quiche.

Later, he studied at a painting academy and moved to canvas, with which he produced new works, with an improved technique, which he presented in an art gallery.

At present, he continues to create beautiful works of art; which can be admired and purchased in his bedroom house, in the Municipality of San Antonio Ilotenango. His specialty in painting includes: Landscapes, portraits and prints of traditions of San Antonio Ilotenango.  (per Facebook post by Cooperativa Santa Cruz RL)
