Note:
With the high cost of shipping many of our customers choose to ship by USPS. For small and light shipments this is usually less expensive, but please be aware that their estimates are often wrong and their service can be very slow (sixteen days for Priority Mail from Philadelphia to New York City recently). The service is not always as economical as it may appear, particularly on larger or more valuable shipments. USPS estimates only include insurance up to $100 for its domestic shipments. If you ask for full insurance we will recalculate the shipping cost and send you an invoice for any difference in cost. For overseas shipments USPS will not insure for over $650. On request we can get estimates for overseas shipping from DHL.

Rony Leonidas

About the Artist

Rony Leonidas was born in Cap Haitien, Haiti on January 9th, 1946. He began painting in 1968. Unlike other members of the Cap Haitien school, such as Philomé Obin, who specialized in depicting the urban life and historical events of the north, Leonidas depicted the rural life. His work showed a fascination with all the processes of agriculture - the growing and harvesting of crops. Leonidas' son Cassandro is also a painter, as is his wife, Michaelle Obin. He passed away on August 30, 2012.

Note:  This painting was provided by Cassandro Leonidas, the son of Rony Leonidas.  The signature is ambiguous, and it is likely that it was painted with the assistance of the son, and signed with the father's name, at about the time of Rony's death in 2012.
