Stivenson Magloire

About the Artist

Stivenson Magloire was born in 1963 in Petionville, Haiti. He was the son of Louisiane St. Fleurant, one of the founders of the Saint Soleil painting movement in Haiti (along with Prosper Pierre-Louis, Denis Smith, Dieuseul Paul and others) and the brother of painters Ramphis Magloire and Magda Magloire. Stivenson Magloire was a self-taught painter, like his mother, but he never considered himself to be a member of the Saint Soleil group. He was murdered in Petionville in 1994.
