Baskets in northern and north-eastern Namibia have been traditionally made by women for domestic and agricultural use. Leaves of the wild Hyphaene petersiana palm and natural plant dyes have been used to make these finely woven contemporary baskets. A medium size basket can take up to a week to weave and each one is unique.
I will be out of town from March 28th to April 15th, and so will not be shipping orders or open for visitors at the gallery. The Indigo Arts website will be active as always. I will respond to emails as soon as possible. I will be able to ship orders after April 16th, 2025.
Happy Spring!
