Note:
With the high cost of shipping many of our customers choose to ship by USPS. For small and light shipments this is usually less expensive, but please be aware that their estimates are often wrong and only include insurance up to $100 for its domestic shipments. If you ask for full insurance we will recalculate the shipping cost and send you an invoice for any difference in cost.

Gabriel Leveque

About the Artist

Gabriel Leveque was born in Croix des Bouquets, Haiti, in 1923. Leveque was one of the early "primitive" painters of the Haitian Renaissance. In 1948 he was one of the four artists (along with Philome Obin, Castera Bazile and Wilson Bigaud) selected by Bishop Alfred Voegeli to paint the murals above the main altar of the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Port-au-Prince, the greatest monument of Haitian art. Sadly most of Sainte Trinité was destroyed in the devastating earthquake of January 12th, 2010.
